Eavestroughs
Eavestroughs, also known as rain gutters or simply gutters, are what carry water that runs down your roof away from your foundation. If it weren’t for eavestroughs, water would seep into the foundation from every part of the house.

Fascia
Fascia can also go by the term ‘roofline’. The fascia is where the roof meets the outer wall, and runs along the lower edge of the roof. The fascia is the wood attached to the edge of the roof trusses.

Siding
Siding, sometimes known as wall cladding, is the protective material covering the exterior side of a wall of a house or other building. Siding, in addition to the roof, is the first line of defense against the elements, such as sun, rain, snow, heat and cold.

Soffit
Soffits are what is underneath, as in below not behind, the fascia. When you are next to a house wall and look up, the horizontal, holey material that you see is the soffit. The holes in the soffit are for ventilation to allow airflow into the roof area.

What our clients say
During the morning after a wind storm in 2022, Denali Exteriors was the only local company to answer and assist me with an urgent 8ft section shingle repair. I found... read more their service, and response time to be incredible. In 2024, I’ve decided to sell my home and as a selling feature I decided to replace my 15 yr old roof and my first choice was again to Denali Exteriors. Vance and his team provided fair pricing, informative explanations on the shingling process, and excellent overall service. I highly recommend this local business to family, friends and any homeowners who require high quality workmanship, and a trustworthy contractor.

June 14, 2024If you ever need new eavestrough or any of his other services he supplies, Denali Exteriors (Vance Unger) is the one to call and have the work done. He did... read more our eavestrough but his service, workmanship, customer care, his employees just everything was if it is possible was even better than excellent. From when he first came to do the estimate to when he finished he showed confidence and truly cared to make sure that we were happy with all the work done and we had absolutely no concerns. He kept us informed about everything that knew we needed to know about. We had our roof done by someone else just the week prior which had already been arranged way before Vance came. Had I not already arranged for the roof to be replaced I would have had him do the roof as well. He even took the time to notice and let me know about a minor error by the roofers and told me about it whereas he could have just said "Not my job" but told me about it so that I could have it fixed properly which the roofer did in just a few minutes. This morning I went outside and noticed water dripping from the corner of the roof. It was not coming from the eaves but from behind. I called Vance, told him about but that it was not coming from the eaves so I don't know what the issue is but he is coming down to have a look anyway. Whatever work you need done that he does, do not call anyone else. He and all those he employs in our opinion is the absolute best. Thank you Vance and all your employees

Frequently Asked Questions
There are essentially three major factors in determining how much a new roof costs: the cost of material; the cost of labour; the angle of of your roof. There are other factors as well, such as tearing off the old shingles, disposal, and special requirements (i.e. is there a pool right beside the roof work area where workers have to be extremely careful?). Unless you are experienced in roofing, we recommend that you hire a professional Winnipeg roofing company, such as Denali Exteriors, as while it will be more expensive than doing it yourself, you will get shingle and workmanship warranties. You can read in more detail in our article called, “How much does a residential shingle roof cost?“.
By far, asphalt or composition shingles are the most common types of Winnipeg residential roofs. Normally, an asphalt solution is poured over organic material such as waste paper, wood fiber, cellulose, which makes the shingles waterproof. Then a coating of adhesive asphalt covers the top and ceramic granules of the shingle, which makes these shingles ideal for all climates and temperatures, especially the drastic ones we feel here in Winnipeg.

- Clay or Cement Tiles (Very rare in Winnipeg)
